St Davids Church Diabetes Cafe Event, Childwall

Cherry, Paul and Jessica Graham, (who is the Volunteer Coordinator from the North West Office of Diabetes UK) went along to the St David’s Church Diabetes Cafe Event in Childwall on the morning of Friday the 2nd of June.

The event was very well attended by local residents as well as Local Councillor Jeremy Wolfson, many of them chatted to us about different aspects of diabetes. Jessica did the `Know your risk` assessment for a number of the attendees, and 60% of them were referred to their GP, as the assessment indicated there was a moderate or high risk of developing diabetes.

All in all, a very satisfying morning raising awareness of diabetes and how people can try to lower their risk of developing diabetes.

Jeremy Wolfson said: “The whole idea of the Friday Cafe is to create a regular event where people can come along and find out more about issues that may affect them or people they know. It was good to see such a great turnout from the local community and I know they found it useful. I’d like to thank Diabetes UK for their support in putting it on.”

The event was covered by the LIverpool Express, ther article can be viewed here.

Thanks for having us again St David’s! and keep up the good work!
